Charity returns

Once upon a time, there used to live a King named Akaya. Who was egregious to levy heavy taxes on the people of his kingdom & building up his own boons.

He was always finding ways to take out the hard-earned money from his subjects pockets. One of his trick actually made him learn a lesson 😉

Once he announced in his kingdom that he plans of digging a pond packed with Milk, which would be used to feed poor and needy people of his society. In this regard he had ordered all the rich men of the kingdom to pour one glass of milk in the pond every night, so that the pond will be filled by morning and further the milk can be distributed amongst the ones in exigencies. The king had also promised to pour a jug of milk by himself in the pond, so as to set an example in front of others.

In the first night, Akaya went and poured his part of jug of milk in the pond followed by others in the kingdom.

The next morning when everybody came to witness the act of charity and kindness. It came up as shocking and inglorious act when the pond was filled with water instead of milk. What happened was that every rich individual of the kingdom, including Akaya, poured water into the pond, while taking advantage of the night and thinking that since others would be pouring milk; therefore, his part of water will not be detected. And this exposed king’s as well as his other subjects and all of them was standing ashamed.

Akaya begged forgiveness from all his subjects and promised to never set a wrong example in front of others. He promised to diligently follow the practice for the needy section of his kingdom and learnt the lesson of Charity begins from you and you can’t pose it on other if you yourself is not doing it.

The end to this small but relevant story marks the beginning of my personal experience, where i came across this small NGO (AID, Faridabad), which helps underprivileged kids to get basic education to get into the normal schooling system. And simultaneously helping them to actually get admission into schools in their locality. I have decided to be a part of the organization and contribute with the skills and time i have. When are you planning to give back to society. And realize, “Charity begins from you and you can’t pose it on other if you yourself is not doing it”.

You are a star for many, “Rise & Shine the world needs your help”.

As per a source, the charity made earns you more satisfaction and lasting happiness then buying materialistic things, even if it’s an iPhone 😉
